The first is the active community. This is a apartment complex or subdivision type of living area and there may be many different looks to this kind. The one thing that makes it an active community is that there will be no medical care on the property for the residents.

The second is the active and supportive community. These again will look like apartment or subdivision type of living area. The major difference is that this community will have a medical or health center on the property for residents.

The third is the supportive community. Where the other two communities have an apartment style look to them this type of community has rooms that are assigned to the residents and residents have a more structured day. This type of facility provides Medical care to the residents 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The medical staff is available to the residents at any time and are in the same building as the residents. These communities are also known as longterm healthcare facilities and Assisted living facilities.
